Where he's from
Born in the jungles of New Guinea
Petey was hatched deep in the rainforests of New Guinea. Like every pitohui, he came with a strange gift: his feathers make anything they touch go numb.
The other birds kept their distance. One brush of his wing and their beaks went tingly for hours. So Petey spent a lot of time alone, doodling on leaves and wondering what his weird superpower was actually for.
The day everything changed
One wing-pat. Zero pain.
One day, a travelling tattoo artist set up camp nearby. Petey watched her customers wince, grip the chair and sweat through every line.
He hopped over and gave one nervous customer a friendly wing-pat. The pain simply disappeared. The artist looked at Petey. Petey looked at the artist. Petey had found his calling.

He runs the studio now
These days Petey sketches designs, works the machine, never skips aftercare and trains hard to stay in shape.
His mission is simple: nobody should sit through a tattoo in agony. The art should be the story, not the pain. He looks soft, but he's the toughest bird in the room. Nothing fazes Petey.

The real pitohui
The hooded pitohui is a real songbird from New Guinea and one of the world's few known poisonous birds. Its feathers and skin carry a natural toxin, and handling one can leave your skin tingling and numb. Local people have known to steer clear of it for generations.
Petey is our tribute to this remarkable bird. Our products don't contain anything from the pitohui. Petey's just the inspiration.
